Henry Street Settlement

"All of us who have worked together have worked not for each other but for the cause of human progress; that is the beginning and it should be the end of The House on Henry Street."

Lillian Wald, The House on Henry Street

Lillian Wald and Mary Brewster created the Henry Street Settlement alongside the Visiting Nurse Service.
When Wald founded the Settlement, she also moved into the area. Living there with her co-workers, Wald provided health care to people inside of their homes.
